BAD BOYS II

movie trailer (apple.com - quicktime)

NOTE: This spoiler was sent in by Colin Marcial.

The movie begins with a couple of shots of ecstasy being made over the opening credits. These bags of ecstasy pills are thrown into bags which are thrown into caskets, then thrown into the sea to be picked up. Meanwhile, back with the police, the chief of operations is talking about how drug smuggling has been down since 9/11 and that the biggest smuggling shipment is due that day.

Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) gets into the action, and are sent in first to a KKK meeting whilst the drugs are being smuggled.

The shootout begins with a klan member pulling out a shotgun. Mike kills a couple of them, shoots someone in the ear (somewhat important later) and shoots a guy with a shotgun that's about to kill Marcus, but takes a chunk out of his butt in the process. They find two bags of ecstasy at the raid, and that is all.

Johnny Tapia, the druglord smuggling the ecstasy, receives word that they were almost busted. However, since they shipped it in coffins they went undetected. He sighs in relief. Meanwhile, Alexei (Peter Stormare), a Russian ecstasy club owner, has a conversation over the phone with Taipei, and sees one of the people in the club overdose. He orders his men to drag the overdosed guy out.

At a barbecue at Marcus' house, Mike comes in with a "donut" (see previews) and comes into the barbecue. It turns out that Marcus, who doesn't tell Mike, has signed his transfer papers to get another partner. Also, Mike, who doesn't tell Marcus, is dating his sister, Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) . In the meantime, Mike complains about Marcus' pool, but it is demolished when the dog runs and pulls a part of the pool machinery down. Mike gets a call and tells Marcus to get ready.

Mike is actually getting his tips from a metaphysical storeowner named Icepick (Treva Etienne). Mike complains that the tip wasn't correct, so Icepick gives him another tip, about a money exchange going on. In this money exchange, it turns out the Syd is actually working for the DEA and is helping the money exchange from Alexei in order to take down Tapia. Tapia had been arrested on numerous occasions but never successfully convicted, and sues the police, thus the authorities are apprehensive about capturing him.

Mike and Marcus oversee the exchange, however, they see that they are followed by a gang of Rastafarians as it looks like. They kill the driver of the van truck that's holding the money, but Syd drives the truck away, while being chased. Mike and Marcus give chase to the truck and the gang, and they have a shootout in traffic. Mike and Marcus don't get all of them, but Syd escapes but is chased again, this time with a truck full of cars. The gang releases cars against the cops, but Mike and Marcus' sportscar dodges them all. Eventually the truck that Syd is driving loses them, and Mike and Marcus follow her. She doesn't tell who the money belongs to and what she's doing, as the money is picked up by Tapia's men. Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano) is enraged of course, at the damage that they caused (although no cops were killed), while the two try to reason with him.

Mike and Marcus go down to Icepick's shop and asks for a guy with blond dreadlocks. Icepick asks for a price, but Mike and Marcus trash a few things in his store and he tells them where to go. This results in a bloody shootout, leaving the blond dreadlocks guy to Mike and Marcus. Mike threatens the blond dreadlocks guy, and Marcus, in a funny scene, shows that dead guys don't talk by interviewing some of the people they killed. Eventually, the blond dreadlocks guy hands over a tape.

The two head down to an electronics store, and find out that Tapia's behind it. They also reveal some footage of sex on the tape, and it is accidentally broadcasted throughout the whole store. Marcus and Mike head to a room full of video cameras, and if you want to pretend like you really watched this movie instead of reading a spoiler, it results in one of the funniest scenes of the movie, where Marcus refers to what Mike "did to his ass" and that he can hardly move, walk or even get an erection, and Mike responds that it's not good for their partnership. However, all this is taken out of context, as the video cameras capture it and is broadcast throughout the whole store. Mike and Marcus find out, and storm out of the store.

Mike and Marcus ask Fletcher (John Salley) to illegally tap Tapia's phone line, and he does, in exchange for Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers floorside tickets.

Tapia has a pest problem, with rats eating all his money. Mike and Marcus take advantage of this and pose as exterminators. Alexei arrives that same day, with his partner. His partner is taken off and Tapia talks to Alexei for a while, as Marcus plants bugs and Mike does the same throughout the house, looking for evidence. He gets a bunch of shredded papers in the trash. Alexei's partner had been sliced up in the kitchen, and put in a vat. Tapia forces Alexei to hand over all his club property. Mike takes a finger from the kitchen from Alexei's partner, but is discovered by one of Tapia's men. Mike and Marcus, however, successfully escape. Tapia is enraged, shoots one of his men in the head, and explains to his mother (who is living in the same house) that the guy "shot himself".

At the police station, Mike gives the finger to analyst and gets Fletcher to put together the papers, which is a picture of a boat. They get the KKK member who got shot in the ear to help them, Floyd Poteet (Michael Shannon), and also employing the work of Syd, who has been taken under Tapia's payroll so she can get into the inner workings of his plot to be the biggest ecstasy smuggler in the world. They wait for the boat, but Mike and Marcus' friendship is strained when they both reveal their secrets, that Mike is dating Syd and that Marcus is leaving. Following the boat, Marcus halts a small, horrible car (driven by Michael Bay in a director's cameo), but Mike instead takes over a car being test driven by Dan Marino, a new cadillac. They chase the van carrying coffins, and on the way, run over a bunch of dead bodies from the van. They are ambushed by many of the druglord's men, and in the end, find nothing in the truck as the coffins have been removed, but find out that the bodies were empty.

If you still want to pretend like you saw this movie, there's an even funnier scene where Marcus confronts his daughter's date, Reggie (Dennis Green), and Mike pretends to be an uncle who just got out of prison, and thus scaring the living daylights out of Reggie. The one thing you need to remember is at the end of the conversation:
MARCUS: You a virgin?
REGGIE: Yes sir.
MARCUS: Good. Keep it that way. I don't want no f***ing going on tonight.
MIKE: You ever make love to a man?
REGGIE: No.
MIKE: You want to?

Mike and Marcus then plan an investigation for getting a raid warrant at the mortuary, which is a cover for Tapia's operation. They both find out that drugs are being smuggled in people's bodies. Marcus, who is disgusted, takes a glass of water, but Mike accidentally throws two ecstasy pills in without looking. Mike takes pictures of the bodies with the drugs and the coffins with the money. After a close call, they make it out of the mortuary and head over to Captain Howard's house, where Mike shows him the pictures, while Marcus goes crazy in the background. They make him take a cold shower, and Marcus finds out that the ecstasy had cured some of his "problems down under".

The raid goes successfully, but the coffins were moved in the morning. The coffins are successfully raided, but Tapia is on his way to Cuba, taking Syd with him, after escaping from his U.S. Mansion. Alexei comes in as a vigilante but is shot by the cops. Tapia threatens Marcus from his plane. A bunch of the Tactical Unit comes in willing to help Mike and Marcus. They devise a plan to raid the Cuban mansion of Tapia. The raid is successful again, employing the use of bombs, tunnels, and lots of guns, capturing Tapia's daughter and mother safely and getting away before the mansion explodes. Unfortunately, the Cuban army comes in, they are fended of for quite a while, as Mike, Marcus, and Syd, along with another officer, jump into a Hummer but they are chased by Tapia and one of his men. They drive through just about everything, from the mansion to a small unoccupied village, as the Hummer is on its way to US Navy soil.

The Hummer and Tapia's truck stop near the US Navy base. A shootout proceeds, the other officer in the Hummer is shot but not killed. Mike has an uzi to his head from Tapia, and Marcus and Syd are being threatened with a gun from Tapia's henchman. The Navy guys tell them that they are on a minefield and not to move. Tapia tells them that they are still on Cuban soil, and the henchman tells Syd to hand over the gun. Syd throws the gun on a mine, which shoots up from the ground and explodes in front of the henchman, killing him. In the confusion, Marcus takes his gun, and fires in slow motion, the bullet going through Tapia's head. Tapia falls to the ground, and the upper half of his body is blown up in the background from a landmine as Mike remarks "Now that's how you shoot! From now on that's how you shoot!", as Mike carefully walks towards Syd and kisses her. As the credits roll, it stops to show Marcus who stopped his transfer. Marcus and Mike are on a new pool which Mike bought him, on two floating beds. However it is shortlived once the dog destroys the pool yet again by pulling on the machinery, and they are dispersed into the river behind them, singing "Bad Boys" as the screen fades out..
